Alvinisms

Read it front to back and it is a complete failure to me. Not only was it annoying to read the word "nap" about 9 times a page; but it didn't help in any way talk about getting better sleep.

This book is a reread. While living in Japan I needed something to pass time when I came upon this book and it was great.

Not a reading book but another random internet purchase.

"Storms make oaks take deeper root."

-George Herbert (1593 - 1633)

Did you know: The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.

Thought of the day: Wonderful! I found another awesome quote!

It's nice to finally have camera that accommodates my everyday lifestyle. Check some of the new features that I may or may not use.

Food for thought:

Cucumber With Smoked Salmon, Curry-FraƮche, Capers and Dill. Simple and damn delicious looking!

The fisheye is cool but I really won't use it unless for gag pictures.

The tilt shift mode aka "miniature" mode seems to work decent and maybe one day I'll come up w/ a little video like the one below done w/ time lapse and this effect. It's pretty rad.

A real tilt shift lens costs thousands of dollars. Not in my budget so this will have to do.

"Language exerts hidden power, like a moon on the tides."

-Rita Mae Brown

Did you know: In 1898 "Pepsi-Cola" is invented by Caleb Bradham.

Thought of the day: You'll notice a big disparity between the book I just finished and the book I'm about to read. Why? Because I have a very large span of interests. If you look in my closest you'll find books about hiking in Colorado to Barry Bond's Game of Shadows. Which reminds me I still have to read that one.

As for my first book, The Five Love Languages of Children, I found it pretty insightful and an easy read. Like many of the things I encounter I only take what I can use and try to get the most of what it offers. There is some reference to religion in the book but its not what I'll be trying to use. What I did get from the book is that kids and us all receive love differently. And if you can find out what it is or combination then you can show love much more efficiently.

For example, I'm not much of a gifts person. Someone can shower me w/ gifts and another can want to go bodyboarding a few times a week w/ me. I'd feel more love from one than the other just by who I am and not by the value of there offerings.

Anyhow, the book goes into detail about what they are, how they can be shown, how to determine what a child's love language is, etc. I find it helpful and hopefully all my kids know even more how much I love them.

As for the other book, who doesn't like sleep? Now I just hope that it makes my sleep better. Maybe it's like the kamasutra of sleep!

"I am not an adventurer by choice but by fate."

-Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890)

Did you know: Alaska's name is based on the Eskimo word Alakshak meaning great lands or peninsula.

Thought of the day: I've been sick for the past 2 days have have absolutely no life other than my bedroom. My pillowcase is constantly being rotated thanks to my waking up sweating and my trashcan fills up faster w/ tissues that my toilet one does. Oh weekend please hurry.

Food for thought:

Beef Round Steak Sandwich with Cuban-Inspired Dipping Sauce And Blue Cheese. Oh good Lord this looks perfect.

Willys Workshop rider Taylor Orman getting artsy fartsy.

I just finished watching One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and I must say I really enjoy most if not all of Stanley Kubrick's films.

Isn't this the best idea ever! Great way to take the anger out waking up.

Alvinisms

Here's my dilemma. For spring break I'm either gonna go to NY for the first time. Or.... I'll be driving up the 101 hitting all the dope beaches and bars w/ my bodyboard and camera documenting the whole thing. The funny thing is, I still can do both at some time in my life. But I wanna know what Imma do in 2 months! Help me out and vote on facebook please. Thanks.

-Tiger Woods

Did you know: Your brain is 80% water.

Thought of the day: We watched the UFC fight Saturday but the thrill of the Winter Olympics is just coursing through some of our blood. Here we have TJ, JR, George, and Chris doing their best Cool Runnings impersonation. I'm still waiting for the Canon 1400is to come out late this month so sorry for lack of pictures.

"You can't turn back the clock. But you can wind it up again."

-Bonnie Prudden

Did you know: This past Xmas I ate a whole block of Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese.

Thought of the day: So Lent is here and everyone's talking about what they've given up. Me? I still haven't decided. I thought of doing red meat, but then 40 days later I'd just be ordering a carne asada burrito. Would I have really done anything for myself let alone my faith? Prolly not. So here's what Imma do...Just continue to be a good person if not a better one. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

This reminds me of church where you make a donation then light a candle.

I'm all fuzzy inside.

Happy birthday Steve. I love you man.

Skulls and flowers.

El Camino used to be the old Airport Lounge.

MWAHAHA! Am I smoking!?!

I can't wait for cream cheese wontons.

I wonder what skate rats will crawl from the streets to get here.

-Gautama Buddha

Did you know: The largest cell in the human body is the female egg and the smallest is the male sperm.

Thought of the day: Another great find in the world of quotes. I think I like quotes that use metaphors because it helps a simple person like me grasp what things mean.

-Ptesticlees

Did you know: You can make your nuts as strong as stones.

Thought of the day: I don't think the quote is from a real philosopher but after you watch the video below you'll understand why I found it humorous. Thanks Willy! I had to share.

Food for thought:

This whole blog is related to nuts.

"People seldom notice old clothes if you wear a big smile."

-Lee Mildon

Did you know: Humans and giraffes have the same number of bones in their necks. Giraffe neck vertebrae are just much longer.

Thought of the day: It's been a while since I've been on my bike for decent ride on a trail. It's definitely missed and I hope I'll be back on more often. But the killer thing is, that after the ride I am so damn beat that I don't wanna do anything for the rest of the day and if I do, you can bet a big crash at the end. So thanks Troy for letting sleep at your pad. Pictures from El Camino for Steve's birthday coming up soon. Plus you'll see something you may have never seen me do! And that's saying something!!!

Allan isn't a mountain biker. Within the first 20 seconds he did a front flip over his handlebars.

But it was a really easy trail but just longer.

That's more of Allan's steeze.

Piss break by...

I've been on the bridge, never under it.

If you don't the know the history of Cara Knott, you should look it up.

The hidden and infamous bridge.

Quick hop on the road and you can see how happy Allan is.

A view you don't see of the 15 freeway everyday.

As I was saying, I'm more into curves, downhill, bumps and jumps.

And you gotta love water! Check out the flood moving the bridge. Bummer.

It even moved the big bridge! Double bummer!

Gotta get a little dirty right?

Allan w/ Greg and Dilip in the background.

And smoking a cig.

Beautiful!

This house reminds me of a Boomers' miniature golf course.

You have to mash up this hill then on the other side is a quick drop. Haha. Greg and Allan weren't ready for it.

MY PRADA SHOES! JK.

10 miles on a mountain can feel like 50+ on the road.

We were running late so we took the road back. Till next time!
