"Maybe it was only a second of your time, but you need to treasure life, every second."

-Animal Crossing

Did you know: The fastest growing nail is on the middle finger.

Thought of the day: I never know about these random and weird facts I find for my "did you know". Remember back in the day when you were a kid and you thought, "if it's TV then it must be true!!!" Well, this kinda falls into that realm but I'm highly more skeptical on anything I read on the net. But no matter, it's still fun.

I forgot that I had these pictures from a while ago. It's a comparison of when PQ Donuts renovated itself. And if you don't know that shop is staple of Rancho Penasquitos and is run by our very own Ms. China aka Jenny and family.

Food for thought:

Roasted pumpkin, parsnips, carrots, and potatoes and seasoned with garlic, ginger, sage, rosemary, cinnamon, and cloves; topped with a dollop of cream fraiche and a mixture of pepita seeds, pomegranate, feta, and crispy bacon. For an extra kick serve the soup in a roasted pumpkin bowl.

At first glance it could a Hello Kitty store w/ all the pink.

Ooooh, more colorful and it makes me wanna eat already.

One day, signs like these won't exist.

A girl has got to do the writing cuz you know guys can't write nice.

Simpson's donut color tile too...

Ooo lala!

Good times chillin in the mornings w/ Ollie and Jenny. Quick chats between customers. I love PQ. It's our own little Pleasantville.

I think I only drink coffee from PQ Donuts or The Grubbery.

4 life.

They have pretty good cheese wontons! Come through and hang out for a bit!

I haven't watched American Anime since Saturday morning cartoons got canceled and X-men got replaced w/ Transformers: Beast Wars!?! Well thanks to Rochelle she got me into this series which I must say is very cool, well animated, has a wonderful story and hopefully the movie is done well too. It's supposed to come out on the Superbowl, but here's a sneak peek.

"You should be buddhist."

-Kimtan to me

Did you know: Michael Jackson loved Mexican food.

Thought of the day: Hahaha! This quote by Kimtan was said to me when we were talking about life and his accident.

Food for thought:

Endive leaf layered with fresh guacamole, homemade carnitas, and pico de gallo. They were served with a spicy cilantro tomatillo salsa.

Thanks for being my escort again Gelly! Free food, drinks and fun!

Feta and Gelly are the lightest skinned girls I know.

That's my I don't like "crapping out" face.

By the end of the night I was giving away chips.

Don't you love the pictures where only one person notices the camera? Nice one Yvette!

I spy Veronica doing the same! Ha!

Drew you look beastly scary here.

I didn't take many pictures this year cuz I gambled a lot more.

Favorite casino game: craps!

"It's possible you can die from eating. But I think being professional means...you don't die."

-Takeru Kobayashi

Did you know: Helen Keller won an Oscar for the documentary about her life, "Helen Keller in Her Story."

Thought of the day: One day a few of us planned to go to Tajima. Lo and behold it's packed and our whole party wasn't there yet. So...luckily there's the other Tajima with a bigger menu. So I decided to go big and try a few new items AS WELL AS the regulars. It was the biggest bill I've had at Tajima ever but awesome! Good food and good company means good times.

Food for thought:

You can't go wrong w/ a bbq pulled pork sandwiches dressed with coleslaw, hot sauce and barbecue sauce and served on a freshly made kaiser roll.

In PQ there used to be a restaurant called Springtown. It was THE BEST and my favorite Japanese food place of all; even more so that Taji. They had THE BEST cream cheese wontons hands down and everywhere I go I have to compare them. Sorry Tajima, they were good but not Springtown good.

Japanese strip steak w/ ponzu sauce. I know you're thinking, "who's orders the steak at a Japanese restaurant that specials in ramen?" EXACTLY! That's why I tried it and it was pretty good! But sticking to ramen and karaage.

It may look like karaage but it's called "chicken mizore". Pretty much chicken in tempura and ponzu. It was worth the try but I'll stick to karaage and mayo.

Even kimchi looked good to me for the first time. I forgot to take a picture of my bowl of ramen but you probably have seen it enough.

New tradition. If eating at the Tajima on Mercury St. instead of going to Adult Emporium, we go ADULT BOOKS! Thanks Kimtan, Fets, and Mary for coming!

Gotta show face sometime you know. Why not see Del and do it.

"It's not the hours you put in your work that counts, it's the work you put in the hours."

-Sam Ewing

Did you know: Helen Keller was the first deaf and blind person to earn a college degree. She graduated from Radcliffe College, with honors, in 1904.

Thought of the day: I've always wanted to go to Monster Jam to see monster trucks. Maybe it's the little kid in me that was always in awe when looking at them that draws me. Or maybe I'm just fascinated at how much power is needed to move those bad boys and how much punishment they can take. Either way I'm glad I got to finally see it and even better w/ fun folks.

There were people rednecked out for the event and we were bummed we didn't dress up. So now we have 2 events we have to go all out for: Midnight Madness and Monster Jam. Let's go Gang Green!

Food for thought:

Cheesy Wiener: Bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with a pork sausage cheese dip and diced jalepenos.

In this corner...

And in this corner!!!...

Ya'll are dead meat.

This was IRONMAN's first appearance ever.

This is one of the few times I'm at Qualcomm when it's not a football game.

And no tailgating. But McGregors was still great!

I love us!

It must be nice to always be the favorite.

It was a really cold night.

I didn't that they did a demolition/race! Its was one of the highlights.

Wreckage is what we all really look for.

And there was plenty to go around.

I'm guessing that's why they picked janky cars instead of dope rally cars to race.

Cuz you might get T-boned like a mutha. We got crashes! Check #1

Storm trooper sighting.

Let the monster truck freestyle begin!

TMNT was first.

We got fire! Check #2

Monster Mutt was one of my favorites. And it's driven by a woman!

Can you believe it didn't roll over!?!

Ironman had one of the longest jumps of the night. IT WAS RAD!

Is that the duck from "Duck Hunt" on the hood?

Check "see Grave Digger" off my bucket list.

Highlight of the night coming right up.

It pretty much got vertical.

Crash landing. But it was sooo sick to watch.

And we got the flip. Check #3

Till next time! See you Saturday!!!

"I am not dumb now."

-Helen Keller's first full spoken sentence.

Did you know: The first Akita dog in the United States was sent to Helen Keller from Japan in 1938.

Thought of the day: Helen Keller's quote is pretty inspiring to me in a couple ways. The first is that she learned how to make sounds without even hearing them! Just feeling the throat, tongue, nose, breath, etc. she figured out how to express herself something seemingly unfathomable. That's just bananas in pajamas. Imagine trying to describe a color to blind person; she conquered what people thought was impossible.

Now if you're wondering why she chose these words as her first sentence. Well, she felt people now matter how famous, smart, proven she is and was would always see and treat her as "handicapped" or "dumb". So when she beat all the odds, she spoke "I am not dumb now" like a big slap to the face of all naysayers and cynics.

*note from Vince. "Dumb" in this context was probably used as in lack of speech rather than lack of intelligence. Ah yes, I guess in my simple mind I failed to look beyond my current and common understanding of the word. Thanks Vince!

Helen Keller has been and is one of my heroes.

Food for thought:

These cupcake burgers look legit!

Ooooooo, what's in the mail?

4 way chess set! Uber nerdo status, but it's crazy! I guess you have to be chess fanatic to understand.

And 30+ year old LIFE magazine w/ Bobby Fischer on the cover. The elusive chess genius who was partially cookoo (for lack of a better word).

"Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all - the apathy of human beings."

-Helen Keller

Did you know: Helen Keller wrote to eight Presidents of the United States, and received letters from all of them—from Theodore Roosevelt in 1903 to Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965.

Thought of the day: Finally a week after Black Sunday aka the Chargers loss and it's been a week of no Sportscenter or ESPN.com which is fine by me. Thank goodness the two teams I wanted to win on Sunday did so at least the Superbowl will be bearable to watch. Seriously, its the worst when your team fails to go to the big show and you end up having to watch the Seahawks and the Steelers. Lame for sure.

Food for thought:

Josephine's prime rib, yorkshire pudding, au jus, shepherds pie, and horseradish cream.
