"Information is pretty thin stuff, unless mixed with experience."

 - Clarence Day (1874-1935)

Thought of the day: I know, I know, it's been a while. But it was all because I was a fitness/diet hermit until the Tough Mudder and now that it's done I can get back to blasting all my friends faces with flashes and embarrassing them on Alvinisms. Cheers to eating whatever and drinking again!

 Food for thought:
Fluffy red velvet pancakes with maple cream cheese glaze, chocolate chips and pecans.
-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

All my kids love their primary colors and Piet Mondrian!
And they can all play chess and love my boards from around the world. Egypt, India, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and one won by my dad over 30 years ago.

"You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it."

-Robin Williams (1951 - )

Thought of the day: The Tough Mudder is in less than two weeks! Time to cut back on all my fatty foods and step up the training a tad. I'm excited, nervous, and ready. Leh go!!!

Food for thought:
Hearty cioppino - Green lip mussels, manila clams, calamari, shrimp, scallops, and cod in a spicy tomato broth.

-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

"I would rather have a mind opened by wonder than one closed by belief."

-Gerry Spence

Thought of the day: We finally settled in to our place and no longer survival mode. Survival mode meaning we finally got most of furniture and necessary household items around. Whew. Man it sucked when you wanted to cook fried rice and then realize you don't got a rice cooker!

Food for thought:
Creamy goat cheese marinated in olive oil, basalmic vinegar and garlic topped with fresh rosemary.

-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

Eric loves that karaoke.
Team Blue!
TGPM Xmas parties are always fun.

Alvinisms 1339

"I really do believe I can accomplish a great deal with a big grin, I know some people find that disconcerting, but that doesn't matter."

-Beverly Sills (1929 - )

Thought of the day: Okay, for real. I'm the worst right now. Not only am I not blogging I'm also not making an effort to take pictures. For example last night, we hosted a Superbowl party and took maybe 3 photos. None of food, none of the friends celebrating, none of the ladies, but.....I do have like 15 minutes of a really really drunk friend losing his mind. Bwahahahahaha!

Once things are really settled here at the pad and we're just focused on whatever and not on getting together the necessities I'll be back on it. I kinda promise.

Food for thought:
Fudgey brownies layered with sweetened coconut and chocolate frosting.
-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

Jojobean and Jenny came through one night and made some of the best chili I've ever eaten! Thanks!
And Chris was using his Juiceman for the first time. Who knew veggies could actually be kinda tasty.
Look at the masterpieces my students made! Piet Mondrian would be proud.

"The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining."

-John F. Kennedy (1917 - 1963)

Thought of the day: Man, I'm super lazy with posting since we've moved out. Gots lots of stuff to do man. Clean, buy, arrange, collect, etc. Sorry but here's few things lately that have occurred that made me at least take out my camera.

Food for thought:
Succulent roasted sea scallops, with spaghetti squash and bacon caramel.
-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

I met Jessyca's mom in Alaska and we've chatted for months but we finally met up and took a tour of San Diego. Welcome to my city mama.
Long story short. Neill's mom made this thing when we were in middle school that I've never seen or tasted again for over 10 years. Thanks for the homemade guava jam bro. This time we didn't have to eat it off the floor.
Ollie and Leo in our new house. Of course there's a nice couch there now. More about the house later. Ciao.

"Health food makes me sick."

-Calvin Trillin (1935 - )

Thought of the day: So I finally got to try out Slaters 50/50 and it did not disappoint except the service was a bit slow. After a day of looking at possible places to live with my future roommates we decided to come here.

I guess this spot gets it's own post because I've heard so much about it and the idea of a burger that's 50% beef and 50% bacon holds dear to my heart, even it's killing it.

Food for thought: Down below.

-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

The 50/50 is the 50% beef and 50% ground bacon patty topped with an egg sunny side up, avocado mash, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo served on white brioche. Hallelujah!
This Vampire Dip is hella dope! Goes well with everything! It's a garlic, cheese, and artichoke dip in a sourdough bread bowl with fried pita chips.

"No one forgives with more grace and love than a child."

-Real Live Preacher

Thought of the day: I pulled my calf and now I can barely walk. This is the worst timing ever since the Tough Mudder is about 6 weeks away and it's time to step it up. What sucks the most besides missing training is that I have to watch what I eat even more since I'll be inactive. Oh well, it's better to be a bit out of shape and running it than sitting it out, losing the cash and experience.

Food for thought:
Garlic potato chip stacked bacon cheeseburger with caramelized red onions. But what kind of melted cheese is that!?!

-Alvinism of the Wildboyz

I've known Fets for many years and now she's finally for the first time met my friends.
WGZ 4 Life.

Jojobean makes a mean...well...everything! She's the best chef in town!

Myself, Toe-Knee and Kimtan reunited.
