Thought of the day: Working at the Shop we run into a lot of weird encounters. We have funny ones, drunk ones (being so close to a bar), sad ones, and mean ones. But one thing that always gets to me is when a parent is soooo angry at their kid and is scolding and literally yelling at them that the whole Shop can hear. Man.
Well Sunday that happened in the morning when one kid didn't know what shoe to go for and then it turns out it was a little more pricey than what he expected. So I tried to help them out by showing them all the sale shoes and whatnot and which ones I knew were less priced; but still right in front of me the parent was shooting his mouth off and tossing shoes at the poor kid.
At one point the kid looked up at me and I could tell he was embarrassed, scared, and on the verge of crying. I don't step in during these situations but I did what I thought I could by talking about features and what they're getting for the price. I figure, "if I'm talking and the parent is listening and learning about what the prices are for then at least he's not yelling." And it worked. Thank God.
