Alvinisms 942

"Man is the only animal whose desires increase as they are fed; the only animal that is never satisfied."

-Henry George (1839 - 1897)

Did you know: In 1911, some people were found living on Machu Picchu when discovered by Hiram Bingham

Thought of the day: Slowly working myself back into the grind. Starting w/ 2 days of work, the work at Willys Workshop no school, then back to school for a day followed by the weekend. This is all working out awesome. CHARGERS BEAT THE STEELERS THIS WEEKEND!!!

Food for thought: See below.

What do you think it tasted like?

The slums of Cusco remind me of Tijuana.

On the road to Ollantaytambo went through the mountains.

Hitch a ride anwywhere.

Piled high on a truck.

This altitude is making me silly!

Or maybe its chewing on the leaves of a coca plant.

Who needs a gas station when you got a bucket and funnel right?

Climbing everywhere.

You might not see it but the tiny white dots are goats on the mountain.

Sports everywhere.

Shoot em up.

Do NOT take a taxi from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes.

I practically could reach over the edge.

Ride of Death from Alvin Benavidez on Vimeo.

The video doesn't even do justice to how scary it was.

Driving fast, dirt road, 10 people in a car, no guard rails, steep plummet equals death.

I was praying the whole time.

Finally got to a train that no one knows much about. And attacked by mosquitoes.

Rich and I were constantly attacked by flies, gnats, and mosquitoes. It was not fun there.

Finally on the way.

Planes, trains, automobiles. It'll all be worth it.

It's no overnight train like in Egypt but it beats getting eaten by mosquitoes.
Woodfire cooked.

Delicious free appetizers courtesy of Carlos.

Ayako is and awesome who worked in Peru for a week to pay for her trip.

Pizza w/ maybe some llama?

Spaghetti never fails anywhere.

Carlos said, "Happy hour? No. For you. It's happy day all day. Come back anytime." Dope.

Free entertainment right outside our window.

I like Aguas Calientes. Street meat, haggling, clean, entertaining, mountains, safe.

For $7 a night this place is chill.

Who needs peace and quiet when you can dance in the rain!
